Did you know our watering crew visits 1000 trees weekly? If you have the means, we'd love your help with watering. Read our tips below! Tree Watering Tips
• Look for trees with a green ribbon that says, "This tree is regularly watered by Friends of the Urban Forest." This means that our crew waters them weekly by filling the green water bags. These bags drain within a few hours, so they appear "dry" most of the time. See our FAQs for more info on water bags. • The amount of water needed will vary by tree species and soil type. Read our Guide on Planting and Caring for Trees for more information about sandy soil vs. clay soil and about different watering methods to find what works for you. • Watering slowly and deeply is better for your tree’s overall health than fast and frequent watering. • We encourage you to supplement watering in any capacity you have, but it's good to check that the soil is dry before watering again. Once a week is a good cadence (in addition to weekly watering by our team). Have more questions? Consult the Street Tree Care Guide that comes with each new tree we plant.
