Character:

Deciduous; pyramidal form with upright branching habit.

Foliage:

Dark green, 1-3", broadly ovate leaves.

Flower:

Fragrant creamy white to yellow flowers in clusters of 4-10.

Fruit:

Insignificant gray drupes in fall.

Bark:

Ridged, dark gray to brown.

Tree Care:

Moderate. Early pruning needed to train a good shape; pruning needed less frequently with age.

Special Considerations:

Flowers attract bees. May get aphids.

Native Range & Notable Traits:

Native to Europe. Often used as a shade tree and does well in urban environments. More urban tolerant than straight species.
