Trees of San Francisco - The transformation of Dogpatch & NW Potrero Hill
See how San Francisco's Dogpatch and Northwest Potrero Hill neighborhoods have been transformed from industrial areas into green and welcoming places on this walk led by Julie Christensen.

About the event
As a formerly industrial area, Dogpatch is not known for its tree canopy. But its warm, sunny climate does support flame and silk floss trees, jacarandas, and even redwoods. It's a walkable, quirky neighborhood recently hailed by Time Out magazine as one of the best in the world.
"What I love most," says Julie Christensen, Executive Director of the Dogpatch & NW Potrero Hill Green Benefit District, "is the way Dogpatch neighbors have used trees and vegetation to transform neglected, marginal spaces -- Caltrans and Caltrain parcels, unaccepted streets, sidewalk verges -- into green and welcoming parks and gardens."
In between warehouses, gardens boast orioles, hawks and butterflies. Residents and organizers are working on a network of native plant gardens that, collectively, will support native insects and birds. Join Julie for a walk around Dogpatch and see what a little DIY energy can do.
After the tour, consider visiting Crane Cove Park, Chase Center, or the roof garden at RH.
Note that our Tree Tours happen rain or shine, and tickets cannot be exchanged or refunded.
